Newbie to Vista (Ultimate).

How to disable the email function of Vista Mail (you could do this in
Outlook Express). I want Windows Mail for newsgroups only.

In OE, the thing I'm asking about effectively it got rid of the mail folders
(inbox, sent items etc).

I use Outlook 2007 for my default email.

I have deleted all email accounts in Windows Mail, but would like to know if
there is a similar function as with OE.

Thank you.

Hi,
Since you asked the question, it would be helpful to others if you indicated
how you solved the probelem.

Are you asking how to get started with disabling the mail function?
If not, please start a new thread.

I think if you add a /news switch to the WinMail shortcut, it will then open
the way he wanted.

"C:\Program Files\Windows Mail\WinMail.exe" /outnews

Does exactly the same thing. These appear to work for Windows Live Mail
also, but there are some UI concerns I see when doing this that I've
reported.

There was an answer in the Vista Mail group.

You add "newsonly" to the end of the path of your shortcut to Windows Mail.

Something like: "C:\Program Files\Windows Mail\WinMail.exe" /newsonly
