Hi Robin,
If I just ignore it, of which I and my Husband have for a week or so,
will it eventually go away?
Will it mess up my Upgrade install of SP2 from the CD?
There used to be a file you deleted or renamed to get the Windows Auto
Update to redownload messed up updates. Can you point me to the
Knowledge Base article that has that information?
I turned off Windows Auto Update and the services that go with it,
because I don't trust MS anymore..... I had SP2 Upgrade set as not to
down load on the Windows Update site settings ... they over road my
settings when the WGA verification/notification programs were
distributed. They say I can change the settings, but no, I can't,
even though there's a "Change Notifications Settings" item in the Icon
Menu.
There's an error on the first page of which is over ridden so fast by
the next page loading, then the page opens to tick the Disable
Critical Updates box, but that hasn't affected my machine and the
"Star" push pin in my tray. (It doesn't get rid of the icon).
My Husband and I share a DSL connection...... I'm afraid he'll click
that update/install , he'll mess up his internet connection, I'll
spend unproductive time deleting/reinstalling.......he's known to get
impatient............ignoring it is NOT the easiest thing to do for
him!
I click on "Obtain XP Service Pack 2" on the icon menu and the page
says..
Your computer has already been upgraded to Windows XP Service Pack 2
(SP2). For tips or help using it, see the SP2 support and how-tos.
Well, that's interesting. Maybe I should delete my cookies and try
again!!! LOL
Incredible,
E.W.

| Can you bring yourself to just ignore it for a while? It seems the
easiest
| thing to do.
