Disabling UAC in Vista

A number of my staff at school have been experiencing difficulties
using Windows Vista to attempti access to the netwowk server remotely
through what the department calls 'terminal services'.

After some investigation, it seems that what is necessary is to
disable user access control, reboot so that the new settings can take
effect, and then access the server using the driver the department
supplies.

The method for disabling access is here:

http://www.petri.co.il/disable_uac_in_windows_vista.htm

I presume of course that at the conclusion of a user session, if one
wants UAC enabled, one must essentially follow one of these
procedures
in reverse. Pretty cumbersome, and unlikely to appeal, I guess.

I was wondering if it might be simpler to have a special user on
one's
Vista machine that has UAC disabled, so that when one wanted to
access
the server, one could simply log on as that user.

Hi Fran

I suppose you could enable the built-in Administrator account and logo
to it when you wish to do this. This account had full access to th
computer and is not bothered by UAC, but be aware that anything you ru
in this account also has full access. This tutorial will show you how t
enable it

Hope this helps

The head-honcho Administrator is only available in Business and
Ultimate. I have Ultimate, but did a temporary Home Premium Installation
to confirm this. It can also be enabled throught the Control Panel>
Administrative Tools>Computer Management Route>Users route.

Hi Ian D

The built-in Administator account is available in all Vista editions
It is just disabled (turned off) by default in all editions

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67...or-account.htm

Your way through Computer Management is just another way to enable it

Hope this helps
