Disappearing application update notice in Vista

A couple of weeks ago I got a notice from Vista about a fairly long
list of application updates some of which looked quite important. I
was very busy at the time and closed the box assuming that would
reappear later. It never did.

Does anyone have any idea how I can get that with the application
updates back?

Start|Programs|Windows Update?

I'm not so sure the notice was from Vista (Windows) since except for Office
if you are using Microsoft Update instead of Windows Update, Windows
doesn't give you updates for third-party applications. You may have an OEM
updater that runs, such as the HP updates program or the Sonic/Roxio
software updater.
