Ok, so after reading a bit I realize that Windows LIve well to put it plain
and simple Sucks! I am not the only one here who has this problem and so far
I have not found the answer to it so here goes one more time for the cheap
seats!
WHY DO MY CONTACTS KEEP RANDOMLY DISAPPEARING? AND IS THERE A WAY TO STOP IT?
I don't have nearly the number of contacts some do so there isn't an issue
with a size limit for me (I only have about 220 contacts)
If I have to re-enter my freinds and family info one more time I am burning
my PC and buying a MAC!

Interesting. My contacts do not randomly change. You have to consider,
though, that there is the local contacts list, maintained when you have not
logged in to the Windows Live Services, using a Windows Live ID, and there
are online contacts lists maintained for each Windows Live ID. If you have
multiple Windows Live IDs, you have multiple online contacts lists.

I always log in using the same Windows Live ID, so there is nothing to
change between sessions. Not sure what would happen if I logged in
different, or not at all.

WLM version ?
Using a Live ID to sign on to Windows Live in WLM ?
Using more than one Live ID to sign on to Windows Live in WLM ?
Not using a Live ID to sign on to Windows Live in WLM ?
Was WLM installed in XP, Vista, Windows 7 ?
Was any data migrated or imported from a prior email client or saved *.csv file ?

Holy cow I have this EXACT SAME PROBLEM.

It's like, as many times as I've added contacts, they CONSTANTLY DISAPPEAR.

I've migrated from Outlook Express and have 1499 contacts. I though it was
some arbitrary limit of 1500 total contacts that was the reason, but from
other reports, it doesn't appear that way.

After I add a contact, it will persist for the session I have WLM open. But
when I re-open it later, it "forgets" the contact. Making me have to re-add
it all over again. Seriously frustrating because I actually really like the
interface!

WLM Version 2009 Build 14.0.8089.0726

Please fix this! Its maddening!

Maybe it has something to do with migrating from OEX or something???

The contacts in my Wndows Live Mail Desktop dissapear. I have imported a
csv. file from my hotpail plus account into Windows Live Contacts in Windows
LIve Mail desktop and they keep dissapearing. Genereally the contacts are
there for a day or two. Then I open up contacts or want to send an email and
they are gone. I have been trying to find the answer to this question for
months. I look and look and see others have the same problem but no one knows
why it is happening or how to fix it or stop it. I have 6000 contacts on
windows live and 1800 on the destop windows mail. I have no problem importing
them thru csv but then they disapear in a few days. I also have a problem
regarding syncing. With the new windows live isn't the contacts supose to
sync with the desktop contacts or am I wrong about this?. The email messages
sync great. I just don't know why the address books are not syncing. By the
way the reason I have 6000 contacts on my windows live is because of double
and tiple importing so I have so many duplicates and its hard to clean it up.
I have noticed that on messenger and the windows desktop they do sync ok but
it referts back. I see no evidence that anything syncs with the Windows live
server. If anyone has help or can answer any of my questions I would reallly
appreciate it. thank you

Three exactly identical articles posted just seconds apart. Just because the
Microsoft CDO for Windows 2000 did not give you any feedback, does not mean
your article was not posted! One of the reason why I hate the abominable
web interface to these newsgroups.

Learn to use Windows Live Mail to read these groups:

Actually, the cause is pretty much understood. It has to do with the Windows
Live ID used in conjunction with Windows Live Mail; if any is used at all.

I wonder if this is why:

Well, yes, to a point. See this:

I am not sure of a utility which can help you, but based on the link I
provided, it would help tremendously if you could clean it up. I am not sure
that the quota provided the user in that link is fixed, or if it varies per
user. I've seen articles which state that Windows Live Hotmail has some kind
of variable which is applied to an algorithm to determine the amount of
email you can send in a given period of time. The same might apply to the
number of contacts you are allowed to have.

I, OTOH, have seen evidence of synching taking place. It probably doesn't
hurt that my Contacts List is well under 500.

Why not just burn your Windows install CD and "buy" Linux? (Nice thing about
Linux; it is free, and similar enough to the OS used by MAC that you can
save on the cost of replacing the hardware).

Or just dump Windows Live Mail and run with Mozilla Thunderbird.

I only keep WLMail around for the HTTPMail access to a couple of Hotmail
accounts; I use Pegasus Mail for most everything else.
