None of the answers have helped with my problem. Checking a web site, using
Yell, or BT phone book all have the same problem. The phone number appears,
then disappears after a second. Most of the time I am not quick enough to
note the number. I have a new laptop with Vista Home Premium

Since we don't know what "answers" haven't helped or what you've tried,
we can't give you more focused troubleshooting. Do you have Skype
installed? Quite a few people have reported this issue with Skype. If
you do, then check with Skype tech support for a fix.

The 'answers ' which hadn't helped before were the suggestions that Skype
could be the problem. I have been using Skype for some years on our
desktop,(with Windows XP)and on the new laptop. The disappearing phone
numbers only occurs on the laptop using Vista

When you say the Skype information didn't help, did you uninstall Skype
completely to test and perhaps do a System Restore to before you
installed Skype? If you didn't bother to do this and just relied on "it
worked in XP", then you don't know whether it would have helped or not.
If you did uninstall Skype and still experienced the problem then the
cause must be something else. Did you alway have the problem on the
laptop? If not, what changed between the time things worked and the time
they didn't?

Glad you got it sorted. Thanks for taking the time to post back. It will
help others with the same problem.
