Disappearing Shortcuts

Many of the shortcuts I had in the Start menu and on the desktop have
changed to a generic icon and no longer run the programs they're supposed to
run. I redid all of them except for two: New Office Document and Open
Office Document. Does anyone know what causes the shortcut changes in RC1?
How about the command line to implement those two missing shortcuts? TIA

I got this one on my own. I still don't know what makes the shortcuts
disappear
but I did find out that OSA.EXE is the program I need (along with the
appropriate
command line switch) to get the New and Open documents dialogs to run.
