I've burned hundreds of discs in Xp and earlier, and they play in every
player I have..
With Vista this is not true.. an older boom box that I have will not play
the vista burned discs.. I have tried Nero, Adaptec, and Ashampoo... Is
there a solution to this ??

Burn it at a slower speed. No I am not kidding.

I have the identical problem with my car CD Player. I have gone through
several CD manufacturers. Some played like crap, others played ok "most"
of the time but occasionally I'd get a CD that was nothing but trouble.
But no matter what, I always would have some kind of problems...

Then I started to tone down the recording speed to 4x, slowest the media
will support, and the problems went away. Completely.

This applies to any OS, has nothing to do with Vista.

Then I honestly am out of ideas. At that point in time about the only
thing that I have left to think of is to try a different manufacturer.

Do you dual boot with XP? If you do does burning still work in XP? It could
be the drive has gone bad. Can you try another drive?

No I don't dual boot.. I did at first with two separate drives, but
unplugged my XP many months ago..
My burner does burn discs that play it most players. My boom box which has
no problem playing EVERY disc I have ever burned , with all types of discs
from this computer when I ran XP and all my older PC's
