I get this message everytime I boot my laptop. "One of your disks needs to
be checked for consistancy." I have a HP laptop and am using Vista. I have
called HP support at least 5 time and they have had

Personally I would replace the hard drive if there is important information
or your work is time critical. It's likely to be faulty.

I should have said that I have done the quick and full test on the hard drive
and both passed so it seems that the drives are ok.

Try this reg fix:
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contr ol\Session Manager"
Change the BootExecute value (by double clicking) from "autocheck
autochk *" to "autocheck autochk /k:c" (without the "")

Those utilities aren't worth the paper they're not written on.
Even when you can hear drives whining and clicking, many still report no
problems.
HDD's are notoriously fickle and faults intrinsincally intermittent.
Save your data and put it on a new drive.
