Hi
I was about to use the Disk Cleanup app, but a couple selections were
not particularly clear. Can I clean up the following items without
great consequence?

"Per user archived windows error report....."
"Per user queued windows error report....."
"System archived windows error report..."
"System queued windows error report...."

Thanks

Hello,

These are the reports that Windows asks you to send to Microsoft when the
system or an application crashes. Removing them won't have serious
consequences, although it does clear your Problem Reports and Solutions
control panel, preventing you from checking for solutions to those problems.

There are some comments at various sites on the Internet where user
have reported OS crashes and loss of applications data when the files i
"System queued windows error report" is cleared by disk clean up. The
comment about GB sized content. My system is in use for a month and
see where my "System queued windows error report" has nearly 200 MB o
content. I have not cleared these reports. When are these files cleare
by reporting if I don't clear them? Should I be concerned about dat
loss or OS crash when I clear them. Suggestions of Registry changes ar
made to avoid this loss of data and OS crash. They say it is a bug i

I finally figured out that these files should not be touched, whats so
ever. It will wipe out nearlly everything.... Bad thing to do, real bad.
I did a system restore and got my desktop icons back but docs, all email
text (even folders) were gone, my favs.. all gone. I get a "message
cannot be found" and "The contents of this message cannot be found".
Even my folders were gone. The link to the message is there but every
email has the same error message. It wiped out my internet account in my
email account and had to reset it.
Does anyone have link to get the email messages (text) back in these
emails? ..and my docs???

I'm replying to Phil's 'orginal' post. The four files that he is talkin
about in disk cleanup will wipe out many if not all files in you
operating system. I know because I learned the hard way. I lost my docs
my desktop, links in favorites and all email, including folders, w
gone. The emails were there but no text except this message "Messag
cannot be found" along with "The contents of this message cannot b
found". I'm saying, for all to learn from, do not delete these
'options' in disk cleanup with Vista. It happened to me twice, no
knowing what happened the first time. There other blogs pertaining t
this issue. I had to reset my email account. I do hope you understan
what I am trying to share with folks
