disk cleanup option keeps closing down

the error msge number : 0x8DDD0009 keeps coming up whenever i try to run
windows update, so ive tried to cleanup the temporary internet folder file
but it keeps coming up that it has encountered a problem and needs to close.
What can i do to bypass this problem, or is it the same problem with windows
update that keeps affecting my ability to use disk cleanup? pleezzee help
any1 im getting very desperate!!

Boot into Safe Mode and try from there.
