Disk Icons in Computer

When I first installed Vista, the disk icons in "Computer" were group by type
with the individual types listed alphabetically by drive letter. I regrouped
them by name to show someone how to do this and when I returned to group by
type, the removeable drives are now grouped alphbetically by there names, i.e
DVD, Floppy, Removeable disk instead of by drive letter. The hard drives are
still by drive letter. I have found no way to change this back. I checked
another system and the same thing happened. (I don't want to tell my wife
though). Any ideas? It is not important I just hate when something changes
and there is no way back seemingly.
Thanks.

Hello Validation

Using OPTION FOUR in the tutorial below, click on Name, and group unde
Name, until you have it sorted the way you like

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/10...-customize.htm

You can also try the option in the NOTE under step 1 here.

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/77...-templates.htm

If all esle fails, this will show you how to reset the folder views an
have Vista remember your folder view settings again

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/70...w-settings.htm

Hope this helps

Thank you Brink
Here is my problem though
[image: http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/7852/computerviews.jpg

F: use to be after E
Now since my Tiles view changed to List view, plus went from Ascendin
to Descending, all by itself, for no reason, I tried to put it back
Doing so made F: go to the end
I would like it back to how it was but using the view options in th
menu bar give me this

Try the last option posted above to reset the folder view settings. I
should fix it for you. :

I have completed the steps to reset the folder view settings. Aside
from annoyingly changing my desktop icon size and reorganizing them, the
F: drive is still not going back to where it was.
Is there some way to keep the drives organized by name but still show
them grouped by type?

Looking at it some more, I found that since it is a removeable externa
drive, it is usually placed behind the DVD drives no matter the name o
drive letter. You can click on the TYPE column name until you see a sor
order that may be closer to what you want though

Yes, but removable drives were always placed in alphabetical order in a
grouped tiles view, until now.

If it was that way before, why cant it be that way again? Why did it
even change?
How come reseting everything will still not yield a result?

Pardon me if my frustration shows, yes it is a little thing and perhaps
even a meaningless thing to some but if I can just get a little empathy
because this is really bothering me.

See if disconnecting and reconnecting may help.

Have you tried clicking on the different sort orders under the column
"Type" and "Name" arrow menus? Be sure to try them all to see if one ma
return it
