Disk Management Query Error

Good afternoon

I am attempting to shrink the Vista volume, so I can dual boot anothe
OS. I've done this countless times and have not gotten this error.
There seems to be a good amount of cases where people run into syste
files that are not movable. The thing here is that I can't even get t
this point. It fails and tells me to check the system event log fo
details. There is a tab above, which says Event Viewer. I assumed tha
is what the error was describing, but I only see two errors 'in the las
hour' --it says that. Neither of the two were the error, though. I a
assuming there is some other way to check this log and, if so, I ca
post that here. Any input would be appreciated

Hi,

Disk Management will only be to utilise the part of the hard driv
that is free at the end of the last unmovable file. If this is what yo
have run into , then you will need a 3rd party partition app. to do th
job

Before you do that, it is definitely worth getting auslogics dis
defrag, free from

'www.auslogics.com' (http://www.auslogics.com

Defrag the drive concerned - the graphical display will show yello
blocks - these are system files and you won't be able to shrink th
volume past them. Check to see how much you can shrink the volume now

If that's not enoug

Uninstall microsoft SQL server from control panel > uninstall
program. Run Auslogics defrag again. If it looks as if the offendin
yellow block has gone, see how much you can shrink the volum

If that's not enoug

Run disk cleanup and clear hibernation and all your restore points
then defrag again. You could also delete the pagefile if necessary
again run auslogics defrag to see how much it lets you shrink

Hope this help
