Dear all

I have ran out of Disk Space on C: which is 30GB due to the Size of my
Exchange DB and all users roaming profiles. What would be the best way to
transfer all the Roaming Profiles to another disk without error?

Thanks in advance!!

ARRRRGH. Are those roaming profiles stored in the server's 'Documents and
Settings' folder? Why would anyone do this? (I've recently come across this
for the first time, I'm still trying to get over the shock)

Moving them depends on how you've implemented them, manually or through
Group Policy. If you've implemented tham manually you can create an
alternately named share and move them by logging the user off, moving the
profile on the server to the new location, adjusting the user profile to
reflect this, log the user back on, next user. If you've used GP you need
them all to log off so that you can do the change all in one hit.

Hi Super G

Are you saying the move Docs
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pro.../movedata.mspx
won't work with roaming profiles? I assumed this would work and then delete
the old folders from C:

going from memory and a quick scan of the document it _doesn't address_
moving roaming profiles (unless you assume they are in the /user share).

I prefer to use a dedicated folder, couple of them actually
\\sbs\ourprofiles & \\sbs\ourdocuments. Of course, these shares are on the
DATA drive.

You are right I assumed they were in User Shares! Roaming Profiles are BAD
anyway, Redirected folders is answer.

How does redirected folders work if the users log in to a different system?
Isn't a roaming profile required then?

Hi Wedor

See http://www.microsoft.com/technet/com...s/upfrfaq.mspx

Redirected folders will work in conjunction with Roaming profiles to greatly
speed up logins if you still wish to use Roaming profiles for Desktops etc.
However Redirected folders use Group Policy and your folders will be
available anywhere on network the way I understand it.

After further reading I have realized that I am already using this but it
did enlighten me on a few details I was unaware of, thanks again!
