*Not* "a Microsoft Support board or forum"
This is a Newsgroup, anyone can post or reply to any post. All that chose
to respond to questions do it voluntarily.
No one using these newgroups is on Microsoft pay roll. There maybe
Microsoft employees that use this newsgroup the same as anyone else can.

Is your Vista HP a 32 bit or 64 bit? Sp1 or not?

You maybe on to something. I don't know much about Lenovo as to what all
they bundled on your system but some of their software sounds a little
tricky.
In my experience all the bundled software that you get with these types of
branded non-custom built PCs just get in the way of having a clean system.
I would try to get rid of all the software Lenovo added, but that’s just me.

You did download the driver from Lenovo Support site, right?

When the _retailer_ of the Lenovo replaced the Mother Board (MOB) would they
NOT have
tested the before operation and then after replacing the (MOB) tested your
system and *the
software in question* to determine you were good to go and the your problem
was solved?
Or did you pick up your computer take it home start it up. Configure Vista,
add a standard user account checked
to make sure your system was up to date and running successfully and then
you had to reinstall _all_ *your* software programs.
And it was then you started having the same problems you were having with
the old MOB. If this is your case its software *your* software, if not
then take it back to the retailer and get a *different* machine or your
money back.
This part of your issue seems strange to me. Do you have a Vista DVD disc?
If not try to get one from Lenovo or the Lenovo retailer.
Check with the distributors of the software you have installed and see if
there are any issues you need or needed to address before you installed, as
it pertains to your version of Vista.
good luck
