Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

Hi,

I get this error randomly when using Vista Ultimate 64 bit, I get blank
screen for 5 seconds then It comes back to normal with a popup balloon says
that the display driver had an error and windows has recovered, I'm using
Nvidia 97.46 on a Geforce 7950 GX2 XXX Edition.

Using all windows updates, Anyone has such thing? any ways to recover?

I tried disabling windows defender as I read on some forums , didn't work, I
also knew that using Windows classic theme (which is rubbish) would help
solve a bit of the problem, but heck I bought vista for its good looking
GUI, so i'm not changing my theme.

512x4 DDR2 RAM
160 GB Hitachi Deskstar
160 GB Seagate
120 GB Maxtor
AMD Athlon 64 4200+ X2
Nvidia Geforce 7950 GX2 XXX

Lucky you get it randomly i'm using vista home premium on a gerforce fx 5700

i cant even update to 97.46 update as i try to installe it then i get a
error stating that i am not running vista os


i can't watch dvd's as i get the same nvlddmkm has stopped there maybe a
problem between your dvd drive to your dvd decoder or try and update your
drivers

gunna give it anoer week or so then i'm going back to xp

I found this issue was caused for me by a dodgy ram stick. Downgrading my
memory fixed the issue, amoung a few other I had.

try upgrading to latest drivers. Worked for me.

The beta drivers from Nvidia's web site are currently at 100.64. They
seem very stable.

I get the same problem thought it was some thing to do with Dreamscene. What
Nvidia drivers do you have fearz i have 100.** but we are not alone take a
look at this http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=25381 seems alot of
peeps are getting it.

Had the same problem with the shipped driver (9x.xx). Have not had the
problem since installing the latest 100.xx drivers. Also make sure to
install your chipset drivers. I have had NO video crashes since updating the
VIA Hyperion drivers. They have a new set for Vista on VIAs website. The
make sure your AGP stuff is working as it should (if you have agp).

Hi
i decided to try another graphics card so i had 1 sitting about a radeon
9250 128mb card uninstalled nvidia drivers rebooted then install the ati card
and downloaded drivers from ati.

now i can watch dvd's or any audio now blue screen all is well just gotta
upgrade the card to 256mb


but not going for a nvidia but ATI


Tryed the fx5700 0c in a xp pc and works like a treat but just not on vista

forums. looks some problems with pararell working with hard drive or

watching dvds and divx causes rare hangs - directx games almost every
minute screen goes off. i'm starting to be sad to keep nvidia on
board

since changing the graphics card vista runs lovely abit slow but now i can
watch video and play games

I'm also having the same problem. 'Display driver nvlddmkm stopped
responding and successfully recovered'. It happens during game play with
games like America's Army and StarWars JediKnight JediAcademy. It even
happens when I'm just looking through 'My Pictures' using Windows Photo
Gallery.

I never used to have this sort of issue in Windows Xp.

Is there a solution for the problem I'm having? I already installed the
latest driver from Nvidia and it has been giving me more frequent display
crashes than previous versions.
I disabled the aero theme and set everything to classic even set the desktop
resolution to 800x600. I've also been keeping an eye on the Nvidia forums for
updates on this same issue.
