Display lockup problems on HP notebook

HP is of no help to resolve this issue.

I have an HP Pavilion dv9610us with Vista Home Premium 32 and
nVidia video card - a combination for display lockup issues. I use
and external monitor via an HP Quickdock system. I have installed
latest BIO/drivers/pertinent MS updates to no avail. The problem
manifests itself especially when I remove the laptop from the Quickdock,
and the only wayt to recover is hitting the power down button - which
has detrimental effects on the HD.

I have disabled hybrid sleep mode. Does anyone have this setup and
problem too, and if so, have you had any luck alleviating it? How?

Thanks!
