Display name and Personal message not working

I have a problem in changing display name and personal message; when I try to
change my display name, it has no reaction at all, it shows my e-mail address
all the time, same thing happens when I try to enter the personal message, it
still says <Type a personal message>. I tried to uninstall the Messenger and
Install it again but it doesn't help. I'm using WLM 8.0.0812.00.

Prompt reply would be highly appreciated.

I had this problem. i was told(on another forum) to go onto my contact card
and change my nickname on that, but that only makes it so it has '*the name
which you put in the nickname box* says:' so i put it wit noting in the
nickname box and it works fine now. i hope this works for you.

also 2 friends of mine are having the same problem..
messenger doesn't allow them to change nickname, PM or personal image and
they're disappeared from a lot of their contact's contact list..
CAN'T SOMEONE HELP PLEASE?
