Display probelms in Vista

When I open a window that's not maximised, or open a dialogue box, or indeed
anything that's not full size, when I move the cursor outside of the
displayed area, the window disappears and the display reverts to the recent
most full size window. The application or dialogue box or prompt stays open
but I have to select it from the task bar and then ensure that the cursor is
kept inside the displayed area to prevent the same thing happening. Is there
anything within Vista that I can change to stop this?

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Gary

I'm not sure my fix will work for you, but when I saw that after a recent
update, I turned off the Aero theme, restarted windows, and turned it back
on, then restarted again.

Its called WINDOWS for a reason. The only way to keep multiple non
full sized windows OPEN on your desktop is ensure they don't overlap.
As you move the cursor what window you move it over has the FOCUS or
is the "hot" or active window. You should see this as the title bar of
the window is highlighted.

As long as windows don't overlap on your desktop you can easily move
back and worth between windows. In fact this way most application
allow you to drag and drop data between windows.

The downside is your windows are smaller so more can be open at once
on the desktop. If you need to see more you can maximize the window
you're currently working in and doing so should not effect the other
windows as long as you remember to shrink it down before moving to the
next window you want to work in.

When you move outside a window you're telling Windows the window
you're moving from no longer has the focus or your attention.
