display is too dim when the power cord is unplugged

Hey. I have a new computer that works fine but, when I unplug the power
cord, the screen is do dim that I can hardly see it. Is there a power
setting or something that I can change to make this look like it does when
it's plugged in? I"m on Vista.

I assume this is a laptop? If, there are usually embedded command on your
keyboard board that allow you to increase the screens brightness by using
the Function key (Fn) + another key, look for additional symbols on your
keyboard, mine for instance are found on the navigation arrows, left and
right. Yours might be embedded in the Function Keys themselves, but based on
my Dell and Ferrari, they are embedded with the navigation arrows.

Navigate your way over to Power Options (Control Panel -> Hardware and
Sound). If you click on 'change plan settings' on whichever one you wish to
change, probably balanced, you should get two sliders to change display
brightness, when plugged in and when on battery.

Hi,

I'm having the same issue. I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate. I can get
to the power saver options....but I can't seem to get the laptop to maintain
brightness when I unplug the power cord!

On laptops the power use of the monitor is the largest draw on the battery, hence it drops to a
lower setting and results in a dimmer view. Try the manual brightness adjustment from the keyboard
Fn key.
