Distorted pictures on my monitor.........

I just purchased my new computer with a 19-inch wide-screen monitor. When I
view internet pictures, such as vehicles on Ebay or other vehicle sites, the
pictures are distorted. They are stretched out across the monitor, making it
very difficult to view them properly. I've researched if this is something I
can correct, but cannot find anything. Could someone send me some advice on
what I may be able to do to correct this? Thank you.

You probably don't have a screen resolution set that matches the proportions
of your monitor.

Right click on the desktop. Personalize | Display Settings. Select an
appropriate resoluton (something like 1280 x 800, 1440x900, or similar.)
Check your monitor's manual.
