Not completely sure, whether the statement in your first line is really
true. Just evaluated DivX 6.6.1 Codec a two days ago.

* Need to install it with "Run as administrator"
* After first install, many DivX encoded AVIs are shown "head up" (rotated
180 degrees) - same as with older versions of DivX decoder.

I then uninstalled everything except the DivX DS Filter.

After that, everything runs fine.

Overall, I guess, they are not truly "Vista Compatible"

Not needed here -- just had to approve the normal UAC prompt.

Not seen here. All DivX encoded AVIs playback normally (not rotated).

The only thing objectionable that I have noticed, is that the web DivX player
switches off Aero until I close the web page.

Installed and runs fine on Vista Ultimate 64 bit.

Not seen any rotational problems.
Web player (temporarily) turns off Aero, but does reinstate it after closing
browser so not a major issue (but they do need to look at it)
The only problem I had was trying to enter registration codes.
"can't find dtu100.dll"
Just copy dtu100.dll from sysWOW64 to system32 and all is fine !
