A local "domain" is not the same as an internet "domain", even though they
have the same spelling. <g>
Ever since Server 2000, and SBS 2000 the standard advice is to name the local
entity "yourdomain.local" or "yourdomain.office" or "yourdomain.lan", but
not one of the internet top level domain names. Heck, you could call it
"cannedbeer.local" or "petrabbit.lan", it would not have any affect on anything.
This will avoid all the confusion you seem to be suffering becuase your local
system has the same name as your internet system.
