DNS setting not retained

When connecting to my home network, I need the computer to "obtain DNS server
address automatically". Every time I start the computer from cold, or awaken
it from sleep condition, it forgets this instruction and looks for DNS
address 10.0.1.1 making it necessary to configure network and sharing ctr,
manage network connections, properties, TCP/IPv4, etc.

How do I make the setting permanent?
