DNS stopped resolving domains

I have a DNS server configured on my PDC which is a Windows 2003 Server.

This morning, it stopped resolving google.com and gmail.com addresses. No response to clients.

I had to add a forwarder for these domains to forward to 8.8.8.8.

Any ideas as to why?
