How do I check for "Custom" updates?

In XP, Microsoft Update had "Express" and "Custom" options when
searching for updates. Express only checked for critical updates while
Custom checked for all updates.

Now that I have Vista, all I see is the equivalent of "Express". How do
I check for the updates that would have been only listed in "Custom"?

I'm not sure your memory of XP is correct. "Express" did the choosing
for you and chose everything, while "Custom" allowed you to choose
which updates you wanted to install.

In Vista, you can also do that, but you have to configure Windows
Update so that it doesn't install automatically. Best way is to have
it just tell you when updates are available, and then you choose which
to download and to install.

No, that's not quite correct. The "Express" mode installed all available
updates without user intervention, while the "Custom" mode let you de-select
some updates and optionally hide the ones you de-selected.
