How do I check integrity of updates/hotfixes?

I have downloaded updates for my workstation on another machine. I did
not find any checksum or hash of
the files I downloaded.

How do I confirm integrity of the downloaded files i.e. whether the
files got corrupted while being
downloaded or they got infected/corrupted while on the machine I
downloaded to. Is there any check for
their integrity? Or does the windows installer which installs the
updates does any check for the sanity of
patches?

Many thanks in advance for help.

A.

All Microsoft downloads are cryptographically signed. To check the validity
of the download, right-click on its icon, select "Properties", click the tab
"Digital Signatures". Select with a single click the first or only item in
the signature list, and click "Details". In the window that opens, if the
wording "This digital signature is OK" appears, then the download file is
correct down to the very last bit.
