How do I check for update installation on my computer?

I recently installed Windows/office updates on my computer, and noticed that
at the bottom of my screen (taskbar), there were two yellow shields -- not
just one. How can I check for duplicate installations of this file/program?

Also, I installed the .Net framework update, and was told it was successful.
However, I restarted my computer and checked for more updates to see if
everything was working correctly, and was told that I needed to install the
..Net framework. ( I think this may be due to to Windows updates on my system.

Any help would be appreciated.
