How do I delete updates not yet installed?

I inadvertantly downloaded a Windows Update file to "correct security issues
with Word Perfect Office 12". I only have the word processing component of
this office suite installed I don't want the rest. Update keeps trying to
install the update and asks for the cd (which I don't have). I repeatedly
cancel the install but it keeps re-initializing. The only way to stop it
(temporarily) is to end the program with Task Manager. I want to delete this
annoyance but can't find the file and don't know where to look.

Presuming you downloaded this update through WU and not manually -

Remove WU downloads from the temporary folder:-

Stop the Automatic Updates service

Click Start, Choose Run.
In the Run box, type services.msc.
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
Click Stop.
Stopping the service will take a moment.

Delete the contents of the Download folder
Click Start. Choose Run.
In the Run box, type %windir%\SoftwareDistribution
Click OK.
Open the Download folder.
Delete all contents of the Download folder.
Close the window.

Start the Automatic Updates service
Click Start. Choose Run.
In the Run box, type services.msc.
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
Click Start.
Starting the service will take a moment.

By deleting the contents of the Download folder - you have removed any downloaded updates.
