How do I disable UAC for individual programs, like anti-virus?

Hello,
I sort of feel safer with the User Account Control feature.
However, I recently installed an anti-virus program, and every time I
start the computer it needs me to grant elevated permissions manually
(rest of screen turns grey and I need to click "continue"). I do know
how to disable the feature as a whole, but is it not possible to disable
the need to approve the programs I use every day, like the anti-virus
startup or for that matter some often-used games that need admin
permissions..?

Mark an application to always run elevated:
http://technet2.microsoft.com/Window....mspx?mfr=true

What AV software is that? Are you sure that it is actually 100% compatible
with Vista?

Will NOT always work. For example with the crappy UAC on I can not run
DVD Architect version 2.0 which is something I use nearly every day.
Vista nags like a bitch that it has a unidentified publisher. Checking
run as Administrator has no effect neither does making changes in
local security policy.

So the net result is regardless if you tell Vista to run SOME
applications at an elevated level and even take the extra step to
drill down through a bunch of hidden mindless menu choices to get to
the heart of how things are suppose to be able to be overridden dumb
as dirt Vista still does not obey ME the end user.

So a rock solid application that worked flawlessly under XP will
generate a moronic UAC nag screen every damn time I click on it's
shortcut trying to start it up no matter what.

Do you understand yet why people hate UAC? The damn crap doesn't work
as advertised. Microsoft's own web site gives misleading and
incomplete information and no solution for situations like this which
I'm guessing are fairly common.

You can argue the point that Sony should have a unsigned driver.
Understood. The point is when you tell Vista to run in XP mode which
didn't care if drivers were signed or not it should simply obey and
RUN the damn application without needing to nag about it first! No,
UAC is a bitch and you know you get nowhere trying to argue with a
bitch or a MVP or fanboy for matter. Stupid is as stupid does.

That doesn't actually tell the user the answer he wants.
It tells you how to make a program always prompt for "UAC".
What the user (and I) would like is a way to make the program run at
elevated level without the prompt.
Thanks.

While that is interesting it doesn't appear to be that useful here.
I am trying to work out how it maintains the security by silently elevating
anything that wants to be elevated.
Maybe I misunderstand what it does?

Precisely, why isn't there a checkbox that says 'Don't prompt for elevation
again, I trust this program'?

Just INSTALL the program elevated. The app will stay elevated then.

Because Microsoft doesn't know how to write good software.
