How do I eliminate the nag message to update my computer?

I've tried setting auto update to downloading updates and installing them
when I want. Then I found out that my other users could install them when
they shut the machine down. The whole purpose of not installing them
automatically was so that I knew what was happening and when. Now I've
turned autoupdate off and have to deal with this message stating that my
computer is at risk, auto updates is turned off. Either way I have six
people to keep happy and now I have to explain that its okay until I can get
to it. (I don't want to get to it, just leave my system alone thanks). Is
there a way to turn this message off?

I'm running XP Pro, (oxymoron nothing pro about it), SP2.

Take away their admin rights and they won't see this anymore.

They do not have admin rights. Or at least they didn't use too. But they
still get a message balloon stating that the computer is at risk. So do I.
I don't need this message. I turned it off as I don't want it updating
itself without my intervention.

Windows Update won't notify them of anything then. What are the settings for
WU?

I don't choose 'download & install', ever. "Download & Notify" at max.
