How do I find the scandisk option?

Ive been havin some problems while trying to load windows update and been
gettin the error number 0x8DDD0009 whenever i try, i have tried followin some
advice on here by checking out my scandisk option but for some reason it is
not located where it should be,which is on the system tools option, so where
else can i look to find this option? helppp me pleeezzeee!!

If you are using; NT4, Win2K or WinXP there is NO ScanDisk function. That is in Win9x/ME.

If you using; NT4, Win2K or WinXP then Open a Command Prompt.

In the Command Prompt type the following...

CHKDSK C: /F

If it replies..
"Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process.
Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts?
(Y/N)"

Choose - Y

type; EXIT

Reboot the PC.

A full Check Disk will want to be performed, allow it.

go to "start", all programs, accessories, system tools, disk cleanup, make
sure that (C is the selected drive, then click OK, this will run scandisk
on your system.
