How do I get the icons for the running tasks to display in a line?

When I first got my new machine all the icons for the running tasks on
the toolbar displayed in a line beginning at the Start Menu. Now
something has changed it so that the icons now show in a scroll area
on the right side of the toolbar.

Only 2 tasks show - I have to scroll up and down to view the ones
which aren't visible.

I have a 1900 pixels horizontal - why does Vista choose to ignore this
and squash all the tasks in a really small portion of the taskbar.

Is there some way of reversing this change?

Thanks,

Steve

Try dragging the task manager window down.
If that doesnt work could you post a screen image?

Your taskbar is locked. Unlock the taskbar (right-click on it). Find the
dots bar just to the right of the >> and slide it to the right. All your
other icons spill onto the taskbar. Grab the top edge of the taskbar and
slide it up. Now they line up in two lines. Right-click, and re-lock the
taskbar. The bar goes away. Anything that doesn't fit is now in the >>
menu.

It's not obvious. It's not simple. It sort of works. Learn it. Forget
it. That's the way Windows is. Use your Windows, don't let your Windows
use you.
