How do I know I have Service Pack 2

My computer recently died and I lost pretty much everything including all the
programs. I am completely computer illiterate but had managed to download
service pack 2 before it died. How do I know I still have this? When I go to
Windows Update it says I do have it but when I go into the security center on
my computer it says that it has not started or stopped. I have Windows XP. I
cant seem to find the microsoft thing that checks spyware.

Click Start, select Run and type: winver
