I use Windows Live Mail. How do I move my mail and folders from my old
computer to my new computer? I thought it would be as simple as signing in
on my new computer, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Do you use Windows Live Mail on both computers? What operating systems on
each computer?

Hi Helen,

You can use the Export and Import options in Windows Live Mail to do
this. This tutorial on how to do it in Windows Mail is just about the
same. You just substitute the program names.

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/90...-messages.html

Hope this helps you,
Shawn

Unfortunately, I have no idea how to do the things in the tutorial. Should I
use the old computer to export? or the new computer to import? I'm totally
lost.

No problem Helen. You will Export the WLM messages from your old
computer to a folder, then place that folder on a CD/DVD or USB device.
You will take that to your new computer and Import them into WLM.

One more thing...do I have to install Windows Live Mail on the old computer
before I transfer the account information and the messages? AND, since I'm
exporting the ACCOUNTS also, will I need to do anything regarding accounts on
the new mail?

Helen,

Well, if you do not have Windows Live Mail installed on the old
computer, then you will have nothing to export from it and import to the
new computer.

Once you export the information from the old computer, you will not
need the old computer anymore once the information is imported into the
new computer.

The account information will export and import in almost the same way.
You may need to just double check the account settings on the new
computer after importing them, but it should be the same as it was on
the old computer.

Hope this helps,
Shawn
