of space it has not been used since jan 2006, is it important to keep it?

..NET Framework is a programming language. The various versions: 1.0 and
updates, 2.0 and updates, 3.0 are all runtimes that are required on your
sysetm if you run programs written in the various .NETs. Think of them as
the Visual Basic runtimes you must install to run programs written in the
various VB versions.
