Do not install KB834707 if you have any software that uses a embedded
webbrowser as part of its normal operation. It seems that any software
that opens a *.htm page ( even local ) and even if they page contains
absolutely no content ( zero size file ) you will now always get a Windows
security popup warning message about the file and asking whether to Open,
Save or Cancel the operation.

This has to be the stupidest security update I have ever since come out of
MickeySoft. The only way I found around the problem is to uninstall the
KB834707 update.

I have discovered another problem with this patch. It has disabled
Internet access on all XP machines that have it. We are a large
company behind a firewall and any machine with this patch can no
longer get to ANY site. Once removed, problem solved.

I think Microsoft has totally lost control of their operating system!
Every patch they have sent out starting with XP service pack 2 has
crippled our network users.

I've been having a similar problem since installing KB834707. IE is
crashing every time I launch it and Outlook Express crashes when I try
to open emails that contain html. Please see my post:

How can I safely uninstall this update?
