How do I put Vista to sleep?

Click start orb, point at the arrow next to the lock icon, click 'sleep'.
You could create a shortcut icon that had a hotkey combo to run the command
if you wanted keyboard sleep.

Turn off Hibernation in Power Options, then run the command for sleep. (or
create shortcut)

%windir%\System32\rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState

Automatically.

Go to Advance Power Settings.
Set hard drive to turn off a minute or 2 before sleep.
Set Hybrid and Hibernate modes to "Never"
Under USB settings select "Disable"
Under Multimedia select "Allow ....."
