I tried to update it for the laptop but it didn't work as well. I did not
find any helpful error message.

I am assuming if a program neeeds it, it would ask for it

then chances are you dont need it...
as for a program asking for it, i have never seen anything on my or my
dads comp asking for it (he only uses his for work aswell)
