How do I send a link to an email recipient?

I recently acquired a new PC loaded with Windows 7, IE 8 and Windows Live
Mail. I previously had WinXP and Outlook Express. In the past when I wanted
to send a link to an email recipient I would click File/Send/Link by Email.
However, now because of either Windows 7, IE 8 or Windows Live Mail, I can
get through the File/Send part but the "page by email" or "link by email"
will not highlight for me to select. I thank you in advance for your
assistance.

Is WLMail set as the default e-mail client? And IE8 as the default browser?

I don't use Windows Live Mail, but as a workaround you can probably copy and
paste the link into the message.

I assume you are trying to send a web link and File>Send> Page by E-mail and
Link by E-mail is greyed out?
I had the same problem and found the following workaround:

Go to Control Panel>Default programs.
Set program access and computer defaults.
Custom, click on the downwards arrows to open the options.
Next, under Choose default web browser: de-select "Use my current web
browser" and select Internet Explorer.
Under Choose default e-mail program: deselect "Use my current e-mail
program" and tick Windows Live Mail.
Make sure "Enable access to this program" is ticked.
Click OK.

In my web browser File>Send> Page by E-mail and Link by E-mail are no longer
greyed out.

PS: I have since noticed that the defaults re-set themselves, but as it's
all working I am not too worried about that :-)
