How do I Uninstall Windows Live Messenger?

I have windows messenger version 8 installed in my laptop.
I tried to upgrade to 9.0 but failed for
Coud not open key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHIN\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\Mec (d?)
-F5A6-4048-9A78-7027FA6EAADD}
I search registry for F5A6-4048-9A78-7027FA6EAADD but could not find it.
Since version 8 could not sign in now, and I can live without windows
messenger
I want uninstall the Windows messenger.
Problem is it's not listed in Control Panel--> programs and features.
I remove the messenger with windows install clear up program.
But the it still in All Programs list.
I disable it with Software Explorer.

But it keep ask me to update to windows live messenger.
And I check the %Windows%/inf foldder and there is no msmsgs.inf there.

How do I Uninstall Windows Live Messenger?
Help needed

Itis part of Windows Live Essentials, which IS in the add/remove section.
The removal will ask what parts to remove.

I'm on Vista, and Windows Live Essentials is listed in the add/remov
section as you say, but it's impossible to remove. Any ideas on how t
remove it please

I find only following items could remove and Messenger is not in the list of
Windows Live Essentials:
Mail, Phto Gallery, Toolbar, Writer

Each time I start windows (Vista Premium). The messeger pop up ask me to
upgrade windows live messenged. If I click OK, end up with Failture

As I said I remove the windows live messenger in Windows Installer clearup
untility.
Now the windows live messenger nt in the list of Installer clearup untility
But the windows live messenger still in All programs list.
Each time the windows start a messge pop up ask mr to update new version of
messenger.
If I click OK, always endup with failture

I run the ZapMessenger and just in a second it say all the Messenger
references are removed.
But the Messenger still in All Programs, not uninstalled.

Try running it. If it doesn't run or it can't be found, its gone
Sometimes stuff that is un-installed stays in the add / remove window
