Do we have a fix yet for the GOOFUP called Windows Genuine Advantage?

Hi,
I have spent a number of hours trying various methods to "fix" my
computer so I can get downloads to update XP. I'm to the point where
I'll have to charge Microsoft for my time if I spend any more of it on
this futile adventure.

So I sit here, exposed and unpatched, waiting for Microsoft to work
the kinks out of its Windows Genuine Advantage boondoggle. Has it
been repaired? Is there a fix for it yet? (A simple download fix --
not one that requires me to pursue a Ph.D. in computer science)?

Yes, there is a fix.

It is called "Buy a legitimate copy of Windows XP".

Bobby,
How do you know it is not a legitimate copy that he paid for?
There are major problems with WGA. WGA is causing problems for
legit installs and also authorizing pirated version. As I have seen
posted in these newsgroups
