How do you change the language on it

When I updated to the new 8.1 version it loaded in french, not sure how. I
can not remember clicking french somewhere. How do I change this? I can not
read french to know where to change it.

Are you sure you mean 8.1? 8.5 is the latest and its been out for awhile.

It is the application itself that's in French or the services in the application itself (like
the tabs, MSN Today, etc.)?

Assuming the former and assuming you're looking for English version, you can simply download
and install from here:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/redir/wlm85.asp

Note that if you are already using 8.5, you will need to uninstall Messenger from Add or
Remove Programs in the Control Panel first.
