How do you turn off updates?

These updates are killing my computer, and are making me so damn
frustrated! Is there even a WAY to turn them off?

To disable *Windows Update* automatically, go to *Start > Control Panel
> Security > Turn Automatic Updating On or Off* > choose Never check for
updates (not recommend) and untick at Include recommended when
downloading, installing or notifying me about updates and use Microsoft
Update. Press *OK* button to save changes.
