How do you uninstall Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable (x6

Lately a lot of installs are failing because they are trying to uninstall and
older version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable but it can't find
the "source" and then wants me to insert disk 1

I DON'T HAVE ANY DISK 1 so it fails
I need to uninstall it or point the install at vcredist.msi which I don't
have either.

How can I fix this?

What are "a lot of installs". What are you trying to install?

Installing programs that apparently need to update the c++ Redistributable
mostly games but some apps also.
