I can't figure it out yet, i just want to know how every1 else uses Aero
glass. Is there a key board shortcut to use it? Also isn't there a way you
can make your windows wobble when you move them on desktop?

thank you

are your sure your display adaptor (graphic card) supports aero and you have
the drivers installed for this?

post the type of the above that you have

>windows wobble when you move them on desktop

This is not possible with windows alone... you can do it in linux with
compriz or
buy a product from stardock called windowsFX

Normally the vista 3d desktop can render such effects.. but a 3rd party must
make the interface to get
effects out of it.

What version of Vista do you have? Does your hardware meet the
requirements for Aero Glass? You can read the requirements here,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Aero about 2/3 down the page.

make sure you have the latest drivers.
If you have Home Basic vista then it doesnt have aero glass

to turn on aero just right click on the desktop and select personalize
then go to themes and select vista aero..

if it doesnt turn on then something is going on with your drivers because
that card supports aero

I don't get the new Windows Vista AERO Glass user interface, why?

Windows AERO Glass requires that you have a minimum of 128 MBs video RAM
that is Direct X 9 compliant and supports the Windows Display Driver Model
(WDDM). If your video card does not meet these requirements, it's the likely
cause why you are not seeing it. For onboard/integrated cards, you need to
have 1 GB of dual channel memory installed with 512 MBs of RAM allocated to
the system. The amount of Video RAM also determines the resolution size your
Display can use.

My video card supports Windows AERO Glass but it's not available and I
cannot turn it on, are there any workarounds?

Again, this might be result of your video card not being Direct X 9
compatible or the system RAM is not enough to run it. Microsoft it seems has
recently implemented a requirement for systems with 512 MB or less with
slower cards. For instance, one of my systems running Vista has a 128 MB AGP
video card with 512 MBs of RAM but I only get the AERO Basic experience.
Fortunately I am able to work around this to get the Glass effects but, I
only get Glass in my Standard Administrator account.

Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > right click the Run command >
click
type REGEDIT
Ensure that you have the following registry value set to:

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM\Composition set to 1 (32-bit DWORD)
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM\CompositionPol icy set to 2 (32-bit
DWORD)

2/ Restart DWM by opening a command prompt with administrative privileges

- Type 'net stop uxsms'
- Then 'net start uxsms'

If none of the above work, you might need to refresh your Windows Experience
Index (WEI) rating.

1. Click Start

2. In the search box, type Performance Information and Tools, hit enter

3. Click the Update my score link

4. Click Continue on the User Account Control dialog

It's overrated. Right click on your desktop. Then Personalize, then
Windows Color and Appearances. Click transparent, then select one of
the color buttons. I would suggest you try Frost first, it is the most
transparent, if that's the look you want. Play with the slider to
increase/decrease transparency. To see the effect open a couple
windows and shrink them down so one overlaps the other. You should be
able to see through the top most windows's title bar. Remember
Microsoft took five years to develop this. Can you see the window
below? If not move the slider more left to make it more transparent.
That's it kiddo. Big deal right? When you stop laughing pick another
color and try that. Once you're happy click OK.

And I am offering suggestions from my guide. I suggest refreshing the
Windows Experience Index though.

Andre I have a question for you...

This part of your post is what solved my problem, and I think you greatly
for posting it:

<<<
2/ Restart DWM by opening a command prompt with administrative privileges

- Type 'net stop uxsms'
- Then 'net start uxsms'
>>>

Doing that turns my aero glass on. However, it is constantly turning off
again. When I restart the computer, and also at other random times the Glass
turns off, and I have to go through the DWM procedure again to turn it back
on.

I know my hardware supports all the requirements... do you have any idea why
it may keep turning itself off? Thank you so much for the help!
