You may think that, but.....
(And if you could get Ubuntu working on your PC, you could see for
yourself.)
I go to my ISP's internal speedtest site (not going thru the internet),
and get consistant d/l speed of 3.6 mbps in Windows. Same test site using
Ubuntu, and I get 4.5 mbps.
It has nothing to do with anything other than Windows being slower. I can
boot in Windows, do the speedtest, reboot into Ubuntu, do the speedtest,
reboot again into Windows, etc.....and each time I get the same results.
Therefore, it is obvious that the TCP/IP stack itself is slower in
Windows, so even normal web d/l's can be faster as well.
