Running Vista SP1. I have two screens connected while docked in the docking
station. I have windows sidebar gadgets running on one screen and some on the
other screen. When I use the laptop off the docking station everything goes
to one screen, which is fine. When i re-dock and bootup everything stays on
one screen. Is there a way to save the desktop settings while docked and
undocked so that Vista remembers the position of the applications when booted
up in either mode?

You could try saving and restoring a copy of the dual screen 'desktop.ini'

I would expect Vista to determine when I am on the docking station or not. I
thought maybe i just needed to turn something on or save a docked profile or
something?
What your explaining seems a bit manual but if you can provide more indepth
instructions it might be helpful?
