Documents on Start Menu doesn't work

I redirected my Documents folder to my home drive, and it worked for a
month or so. Somehow I lost access to that drive, and although it was
corrected fairly quickly, now when I click on the Documents link under
the Start Menu, nothing happens. No error, it just doesn't open. When I
right click the Start Menu Documents icon and go to Properties, there is
no information listed there. It is just all blank showing 0 bytes.

When I go to my profile, it shows a regular folder for Documents, not
the fancy new Documents icon used in Vista. When I open this folder it
opens my local Documents directory, but there is nothing there (since
everything was being kept on the network drive). When I right-click this
folder, it opens and the location on the local drive C:\users\name, and
it has the following tabs: General, Sharing, Security, Previous
Versions, and Customize. The Location tab is missing so I can't redirect
the folder back to the network drive.

I did go to the Start Menu properties and remove, then add back the
Documents link, but that didn't help. I enabled and disabled User Access
Control and that didn't help. I even did a System Restore of the system
to last week before this problem started, and nothing seems to help.

Any ideas how I can fix the Start Menu link and move the Documents
folder back to the network drive? Thanks...

you should try to make a documents folder in your user named document
and delete the other and if you cant then try renaming it and if you
cant even rename it then get IrfanView and all the plugins because i had
a problem that no error popped up when i tried deleting the folder and i
was not able to rename it so i right clicked on that folder and
accidently clicked browse with irfanview and i was able to rename from
there and after i did i was able to delete it

The folder without a Location tab will not be considered your Documents
folder though since it was just one that was manually created.

Using the manual part of OPTION THREE in the tutorial below will allow
you to change the default location through the registry instead.

Hope this helps,
