Does the program version matter, when trying to communicate with others? I am
getting a message telling me the party I am trying to communicate with is not
on the right version?

Thanks

Greetings Michael,

Depends on what you're trying to do. In general, everything from MSN Messenger 7 and above
should work together fairly nicely.

One minor exception is voice clips and dynamic backgrounds which were added in 7.5.
Additionally, Application Sharing and Whiteboard require the latest version of Windows
Messenger (not Live) to be installed on the system.

So, what are you trying to do specifically?
